Mickey Bradley

Mickey Bradley, ABOC, Registered Optician

My optical career started in the lab where I underwent training in the ophthalmic division of Bausch & Lomb. There I learned the precise craft of making lenses. From the lab, I made the move to a management position at an Oklahoma City retail branch of the company. The next phase of my career took me to Dallas where, for 21 years, I was a dispensing optician for an independent optical company. Then the opportunity presented itself to purchase my own business. I was eager to shape a friendlier, more customer-focused atmosphere, and seized upon the chance to do so. I bought Patrick Optical from Tom Patrick in 1998.

That decision brought me back to the west side of the Metroplex. My father grew up in Weatherford. (Brush with fame: he went to school with the famous entertainer, Mary Martin!) Fort Worth felt like home, and we have lived and worked here ever since.

Away from the office, my wife and I like to hunt down antiques for our collection. I also enjoy woodworking, which comes in handy; our vintage home in the Fairmount Historic District always has a project! Our family includes two daughters, a son, and five grandchildren.

My optical career began in Midland, Texas, in the late ‘80s when a friend asked for my help in his optical business. I discovered by serendipity that this is a rewarding and interesting field that I could make my life’s work. I moved to Fort Worth in 1989, studied for the ABOC exam, and became a certified optician in 1990. I’ve worked with Mickey at Patrick Optical since 2005.

I’m a people person. It’s a joy working with people to fit their glasses and serve their optical needs. It’s fun to serve not only the many repeat customers who return for their continuing needs, but also the new people who discover our store. Helping people to see better is a fulfilling thing for me.

In my spare time, I enjoy expressing my creative side through scrapbooking and gardening. My husband and I love to entertain in “Cindy’s Cantina” in our backyard, surrounded by the herbs and flowers that we’ve nurtured. It’s also a great place to hang out with our three wonderful granddaughters.
